My default is local agents. When a task needs more compute, I use OpenRouter to reach models that cost less than the frontier APIs while still covering most of my coding and text work.

The current software landscape of 2025 is problematic, with most applications requiring online connectivity, containing ads, or depending on servers that can be shut down without notice. This has made the concept of self-reliant, offline-capable software more appealing.
